Services

We honor your birth as the enormous transition it is, while providing quality perinatal care. We provide holistic, preventative prenatal, birth and postpartum care for you and your baby. We integrate alternative and western modalities with an understanding of herbs and nutrition as well as prenatal and perinatal psychology.

Prenatal Care

The Standard pregnancy calendar is followed for your prenatal appointments:

  • Once every 4 weeks until 28 weeks gestation.

  • Once every two weeks from 28-36 weeks gestation.

  • Once a week from 36 weeks until delivery.

  • All care is provided in our office, and one visit takes place in your home around 36 weeks. In home appointments are available for an additional $250 per visit.

  • Our care is family-centered and we welcome your partner, children and anyone supporting you through your pregnancy to join us during our visits.

  • All tests and procedures are discussed, options are presented and your choices are respected.

  • We inquire into your feelings and needs and provide support and resources as necessary.

Initial Exam

 

During your hour and a half initial exam we:

Prenatal exams

Subsequent Prenatal Exams

During your hour prenatal appointments we:

  • Perform a complete prenatal exam.

  • Discuss your nutrition based on individual needs.

  • Inquire into your pregnancy related health concerns and give recommendations.

  • Answer all your questions and address any worries.

  • Follow up with necessary blood work and cultures.

Prenatal care
  • Take your complete medical history.

  • Draw your blood and take cultures as necessary or request copies of records from your former care provider.

  • Perform a complete prenatal exam which includes:

    • Blood pressure and pulse

    • Weight

    • Urinalysis

    • Assessing baby’s size, position and amniotic fluid levels

    • Listening to baby’s heart

  • Engage in a comprehensive discussion regarding healthy life style choices, including nutrition, exercise, rest, stress reduction, what to avoid, as well as natural remedies for pregnancy discomforts.

Your Birth

During your birth our midwifery team provides:

  • A discussion on normal newborn behavior, when to call us with concerns, as well as mother and baby care for postpartum recovery.

  • You purchase a home birth kit with all disposable supplies six weeks prior to your due date and rent a birth tub if desired.

  • Labor support from active labor.

  • All necessary medical equipment to monitor and for you and your baby.

  • Breastfeeding support.

  • A complete newborn exam performed within a few hours of the birth.

Postpartum

We provide care for the first six weeks after birth of your baby, which includes:

Postpartum care
  • On-call support 24 hours a day for the entire 6-week postpartum period for any concerns you may have.

Postpartum exams in your home at:

  • 1-2 days after birth.

  • 3-7 days.

Postpartum visits in the office.

  • 3 weeks.

  • 6 weeks.

  • Breastfeeding support or appropriate referral.

  • Discussions regarding family adjustments and development.

  • Family planning consultation.

  • Postpartum depression support and resources.

Well-Person and Gynecology Care

We provide gentle annual exams in our office:

  • Pregnanacy testing.

  • PAP smears.

  • Vaginal cultures.

  • Pelvic and breast exams.

  • Various non-hormonal birth control options.

  • Family planning/pre-conception counseling.

  • Blood tests.

  • Blood pressure check.

  • Nutritional counseling.

  • Natural remedies.
